FORGIVENESS
(Matthew 18:21—35)
Rule of Engagement:
Remember that the objective of this series is to strengthen and encourage your relationships.
Truth for Today:
Not forgiving others, or not being forgiven by others, hurts me, and them.
My Goal This Week:
To forgive my spouse and others as God in Christ forgives me.To recognize wrongs I have done against God, my spouse, or others and to seek their forgiveness.
SEEKING FORGIVENESS
1. Confession- "I am sorry!"
- "I was wrong!"
2. Repentance
- "Please forgive me."
3. Love
- "I love you!"
WALLS WE PUT UP
- Fear
- Confusion
- Distrust
- Insecurity
- Anger
THE PROMISE OF FORGIVENESS
1. I will not use your wrong doings against you in the future.
2. I will not talk to others about them.
3. I will not dwell on them myself.
HOW YOU CAN FORGIVE AND KEEP ON FORGIVING
1. Make a decision to forgive.
2. Say the words "I forgive you."
3. When you forgive, release them.
4. Forgive them completely.
5. Forgive them repeatedly.
LOVE DARE CHALLENGE
Ask God to reveal anything you have done to hurt or offend Him, your spouse, or others. Seek forgiveness and reconciliation. Remember not to blame shift or make excuses. Ask God to reveal anything you need to forgive in your spouse or others. Ask God to help you forgive any deep-seated hurts. Prayerfully consider how to communicate your forgiveness to your spouse and others,
